We're ALL Beginners.

After talking to a girlfriend about completing this insanely challenging full yoga mala, (108 sun salutations, 2 hours, in a room hotter than 95 degrees F), she said, "think about how skinny you'll be..."  It really rubbed me the wrong way.  Not once did I think, "I will be so skinny after the mala."  I definitely thought about how strong I'd feel if I could complete all 108 salutations.  I don't want that to be the message for girls trying yoga/people feeling too intimidated to step into a trendy yoga studio.

Intimidated to try yoga?  Think about this:

  • Very few start out being able to do certain poses/holds.
  • Everyone is a beginner, regardless of how long people practice.
  • The muscles on the people in front of you didn't happen over night.
  • EveryBODY can do yoga, regardless of injury, if the pose isn't speaking to you, modify it/take child's pose.
  • When you notice your breath quickening, smile.
  • If you feel like YOU can't do it, dedicate your yoga sesh to someone in your life who needs that positive energy.
  • Wear clothes that YOU feel good in and if you don't feel good yet, don't worry, you will.
  • You'll be surprised at your strength after a few classes.

To Thine Own Self Be True

The questions are so complicated, yet the answers so simple.

WHAT IF I'M DOING THE WRONG THING?

What if you're not?
What if your life is already planned and you do mess up/make a mistake in order to get to where you were going in the first place?  I struggle with this one.  I am so scared of not living my life fully that I get stuck in decision making mode.  In one way or another, a decision is being made.
You go or you don't.  You accept or you reject.
YOUR LIFE IS IN YOUR OWN HANDS.
DO WHAT MAKES YOU CONTINUALLY CONTENT.

CAN I DO IT?
A wise train once said, "I think I can, I think I can."

THE MIND IS SO POWERFUL.
Play around, figure out what works for you and run with it.
Make mistakes.
Practice meditation.
Take a random vacation.
Meet someone.
Take deep breaths.
Move your body.
Don't respond right away.
Eat the cookie & then take a walk.
Have a margarita.
Drink more water.

LOW Sugar V, GF, Nut Free Dessert

THE CHOCOLATE MIXTURE HARDENS ON THE "ICE CREAM"
I didn't just want something
SWEET & chocolate-y.
I NEEDED IT!
Here's how to get your own:

  • SUGAR FREE VANILLA BEAN COCONUT MILK ICE CREAM
  • SOY NUT BUTTER (COMES IN JAR LIKE PEANUT BUTTER)
  • UNSWEETENED CHOCOLATE BAR (I USED GHIRARDHELLI)
  • 1 PACKET OF STEVIA
IN A BOWL, COMBINE 1 SQUARE OF CHOCOLATE, 1-2 TBSP SOY NUT BUTTER AND STEVIA. PUT IT IN THE MICROWAVE FOR 1 MINUTE, STIR IT UP. 
ADD THE COCONUT CREAM ICE CREAM.

THE LOW SUGAR COMES FROM THE SOY NUT BUTTER AND I THINK 1 GRAM OF SUGAR IN 1/2 CUP OF COCONUT MILK ICE CREAM.

YOU WILL CRY WITH HAPPINESS IF YOU MAKE AND EAT THIS.

WE THOUGHT SPLITTING A SALAD AND A SANDWICH MIGHT NOT BE ENOUGH...
& THEN THE FOOD CAME AND IT WAS CHEESECAKE FACTORY PORTIONS!
THE SANDWICH MADE US SOOO HAPPY WITH THE INSANELY DELICIOUS TOASTED TO PERFECTION RYE BREAD. THE UNBELIEVABLY DOESN'T TASTE LIKE TOFU, TOFU. ADD IN SOME MELTED VEGAN CHEESE AND CALL IT A MUST ORDER AT LOCALI!

Girlfriends

Last night I returned home after
spending 5 glorious days in the California sun.
We walked, talked, laughed, hiked
and grubbed on some delicious food.
Sometimes I don't realize what I need until I get it.
My prescription for:
quality girlfriend time, vitamin D and adventure
has been filled.
Such sweet happiness.
