Comfort food less than 290 calories!!

Yum. yum. yum. yum. yum.  I can't say it enough.
The weather is a changin' and it's gettin' awfully brisk!
Which means that soup starts sounding gooooooooood.

Here's the deets:

  • TJ's Organic Split Pea Soup

Full can is only 150 calories

  • TJ's Salted Popped Potato Chips

1 serving is 22 chips and 120 calories

  • Siracha Hot Sauce

1 tsp is 5 calories, 1 TBSP is 15 calories

Soup (150) + Chips (120) + Hot Sauce (15) =  285 Calories!

It's salty, but it's what I was craving & only 4 grams of fat for the whole meal!

You!

Portage Bay Cafe. Must Go Back!

How is it possible that I didn't know about
Portage Bay Restaurant in Ballard???

Last year for my bday we went to Tilth.
I ordered Cinnamon Black Walnut Steel Cut Oatmeal.
Had no idea that oatmeal could make your mouth water and your eyes bulge.  Damn the portion sizes.  They were all itsy bitsy and we were all hungry after the bill was paid.
No bueno.

This year I chose...PORTAGE BAY CAFE
which kicked some serious ass.
I ordered the vegan banana pancakes, which were also Gluten Free!  Description: Two large pancakes made with organic rice flour, hemp- milk, and puréed organic bananas, and a scoop of Justin’s organic chocolate-hazelnut spread.

Not only did every bite get better but I wrote them a thank you note for the quality of food they serve.

It was that magnificent.  Did I mention they have a fruit bar?  I mosied on over to scoop raspberries, blueberries, strawberries & blackberries onto the plate
next to my beautiful pancakes.

GF, V, NUT FREE COOKIES!

Gluten Free, Vegan and Nut Free
CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES!

Ingredients:

1.5 cup vegan butter (Earth Balance tastes delicious!)
2400 calories
1 1/4 tsp baking soda
3/4 cup sugar (turbinado raw sugar, yes!)
540 calories
3 cups Trader Joe's Rolled Oats
900 calories
3/4 cup brown sugar
622 calories
1 1/4 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet mini's Enjoy Life brand, found at Safeway/Whole Foods)
1500 calories
1/2 cup apple sauce (I used Trader Joe's cinnamon apple sauce)
52 calories
1 tsp vanilla

Total: 6014 calories

40 cookies=150 calories per cookie

Preheat oven to 350.  In a BIG bowl, combine sugar, brown sugar and butter and mix.  Add apple sauce, vanilla and baking soda.  Mix.  Stir in oats & chocolate chips.  Put on a lightly greased cookie sheet  and bake 10-14 minutes.  Depends on how big the cookies are, but this is a hefty batch, around 40 cookies!

*When I made them, they looked really weird, like kind of half baked, so I kept them in the oven a couple more minutes, just kept checking on them.  They still looked weird but I tried one any way...

I can't even describe how delicious these are.  The pictures don't give these things any justice.  Make them and see for yourself.  Be careful though, especially if you are alone and no one can watch how many you can consume, they are that good.

UNDER 100 Calorie StarB's Drink!

I asked the Starb's barista what other drink tasted like the
skinny vanilla soy latte (130 calories in the tall)
and she told me.

It's absolutely DELISH!  A Coffee Misto with soy milk.

It's cheaper and only 70 CALORIES!  It's half coffee and half soy milk.

Starb's uses Vanilla soy milk so it's already sweet enough
so you don't need the sugar-free vanilla.
Plus I use my gold card which knocks off the soy milk charge.
YEAAA BUDDY!

FAV Vegan BLOG!

I love to look at food blogs, particularly vegan.  There is one blog, specifically that I can't get enough of and I think it's because reading her posts makes me want to be in her kitchen.  She's hilarious, raw and she makes food that looks insanely, I mean insanellllllly GOOD!

Not only does she make attractive grub, she lists the nutritional info. so you know what you're getting yourself into...

Below is a picture from her website and yes, this too is vegan!

You create the outcome.

What in the hell am I even doing?
I don't know, but somehow I got into this pose.
I'm not sure if it's strength or luck but I did it.

It's so easy to see something difficult and immediately convince
yourself that you can't do it.
Why not just try it out and see what happens?
