What Are You Scared of?

When my friends tell me that they are too scared to do something, I am quick to say, JUST DO IT!  What are we living for if we are not being honest and real with one another?  SAY WHAT YOU THINK...kindly.  If you are mad, say it.  If your feelings are hurt, say it.  If you are scared, say it.

I am scared of so many things!  Seriously!  If I let my fear control my life, I would never leave my house!  And there was a time when I felt like I never would.  But those are the lowest of the lows and they don't last forever.  I'm sure there's been a couple moments in your life when you thought everything was too much to handle and there's no way you were going to get out of it.  And look!  YOU SURVIVED!

I figured if I shared this list, others would feel better about sharing their fears...

I'm scared of...

  • forgetting to pay a bill on time.
  • my former broken right foot not being able to move in the morning.
  • food allergies getting the best of me.
  • not being able to do it all.
  • traveling to foreign countries.
  • negative feedback.
  • getting fat.
  • not knowing enough.
  • getting vertigo while I teach yoga
  • dying.
  • growing older.
  • getting lied to.
  • nightmares.
Here's what I'm not scared of...
  • helping people.
  • listening to the truth.
  • trying new foods.
  • being strong.
  • failing.
  • living in the moment.
  • pushing people towards a better life.
  • making meal recommendations.
  • selecting music for a yoga class.
  • letting people feel okay to be themselves, fully.
  • living.
  • sharing my struggles.
  • not sugarcoating.
  • endless dreaming and goal-setting.

Create Your Own Vision Board.

You have all the tools.
You know what you'd put on your own vision board.
Now what?
This is called, pausing/stopping right before something great is about to happen.
I only know because I do it a lot.
I usually let things go right before they are about to really take off.
I keep myself from success by letting my fear take over.
But not anymore.
Because fear is fake.
It is created by our minds to mess with us.
To hold us back.
To make excuses on why we shouldn't complete something.
When you break through those barriers, life is limitless.
Regardless of your age, you're still alive.
So go for it.
Whatever you've been contemplating.
Spend a little more money on whatever it is that you can't stop thinking about.
Don't say, "I wish...." blah blah blah...
Go do it.
The only one stopping yourself is you.
I can relate.
We all can relate.
But let's be different.
Let's join together and succeed in something wonderful.
You're worth it.
I'm worth it.
Life is now.

4 signs you've found your soulmate!

1. You are yourself, completely.  Not the scrubby, don't put makeup on ever self.  The one that cares about herself.  The one that LOVES, TRUSTS and HONORS herself enough to feel the same about that special someone.
2. You wish they were with you the majority of your day.  When you're around them you smile more.  You enjoy sitting next to them when talking or watching a movie.  You miss them when you go to work and can't wait to see them on the drive home.
3. You do more around the house because you like when that person is happy.  You appreciate and notice the small things they do for you.  You genuinely like seeing them smile and they genuinely like seeing you smile.
4.  You feel included, cherished and loved.  You could bet your life that they love you and genuinely want you around.  You mirror these feelings with your guy/girl.

You will find your soulmate when you've done the right amount of soul searching within yourself.  If you find yourself waiting for time to pass until you meet your soulmate, you aren't fulfilled enough on your own.  Find your own passions, dreams and interests and when you do, that person will come waltzing in the door with eyes only for you.

I'll Find You What You Need...

I say that a lot.  Things like, "Don't worry about it, I'll figure it out."  I say it even more when people ask if I need help.  "I got it!"  I've always liked to do things on my own and than I get mad that no one has helped me.  Ha ha.  Jokes on me.

A couple nights ago I was at my parents house and it was really late, I didn't want to look for a parking spot at my place downtown and my Mom was coaxing me into spending the night.  I knew she was right, I should stay, I was exhausted and I don't like driving at night.  The moment I announced that I was staying, I zombie walked to the bathroom to brush my teeth and take off my makeup.

As I reentered the room, I stopped...Mom was ripping off the couch pillows and tucking the newly washed sheet under the cushions.  I watched her make the best looking couch bed I'd ever seen and than make sure the fireplace was on, so I wouldn't get cold...she's a God.

It is my Mom's 'love language.'  She is NON-STOP.  A couple hours earlier my brother walked into the house and without hesitation she bee-lined for the fridge, pulled out the salmon, quinoa and egg and started pan-frying her delicious, homemade Salmon Patties.  As she was already flipping the patty, "Trev, are you hungry? He nodded yes.  "Want me to make you a salmon patty?"  His eyes lit up and that was enough.  A few minutes (most likely seconds) later a toasted bun was being placed onto a plate as avocado slices lined the bun and the salmon patty was delicately tucked in between the two slices of Dave's Killer Bread.  The sandwich was a thing of glory.

I marvel at my Mom.  She does it all.  But is exhausted!  And she doesn't ask for help, so I try to pick up here and there as much as I can when I'm home.

I get it.  She is a woman, mother, friend, wife, sister, life coach and inspirational quote giver that I can only hope to be somewhat like when I have my own family.

Just so you know Mom, it's okay to ask for help. :)
Either way, you are truly a real life SUPERWOMAN!

What is a Health Coach?

Great question.  I got my oil changed today and the guy behind the counter asked, "What exactly is a Health Coach?  Before I could answer, he started guessing....

Then he told me about his normal blood pressure.
He said he was 300 pounds overweight, but healthy as an ox.
He looked at me for any kind of reaction,
but I was assessing the situation and wasn't ready to react.
He went on, "My parents are in their 70's, but look like they are 50!  I'm Norwegian, maybe we just age well.  Guess how old I am??  Come on.
What do you think!?"
I despise this question.  You either offend someone or make their day.
"31?"
He laughed and then told me he loved me.  He did a little dance, told the customers in the waiting room that his day was made!
"Girl, I'm 41!"
Then the phone rang, I paid my bill and walked out the door.

A Health Coach is a listener, someone who assesses everything in the person, mannerisms, conversation styles.  I look for the little clues during  conversation with a client that will help me discover their pain.  I want them to discover patterns they never knew existed.

My role as a Health Coach includes: listening, taking notes and trying to determine the root cause of the issue at hand.  We cover relationships to food, connection to self, friendships, fitness levels, career, healthy habits, unhealthy habits, goals, confidence levels, posture, aches and pains, etc.  Some describe this position as a counselor, career coach and lifestyle therapist wrapped up into one unique package.

I describe it as someone
who genuinely wants people to feel good.
Bottom line.
That is why I am a Health Coach.

Gluten Free, Dairy Free & Sugar Free Chocolate Chip Cookies!

STEP ONE
STEP TWO
STEP 3

 STEP 4
STEP 5

Eureka!  I think I've found the golden treasure with these ingredients, this oven temp and this baking time...

Ingredients
  • 1/4 TSP Himalayan Pink Salt
  • 6 Dates (oops, left it out of top picture)
  • 1/2 TSP Baking Soda
  • 1/2 Cup Zero
  • 3/4 Cup Lily's Dark Chocolate Baking Chips
  • 1/2 Cup + 2/3 Cup GF Baking Flour
  • 1-2 TSP Vanilla Extract
  • 2 TBSP Coconut Oil
  • 1/4 Cup Vanilla Almond Milk (unsweetened)
  • 1 TSP cinnamon (oops, left it out of top picture)
  • Dash/so of water (until the dough reaches the consistency you need)
Preheat oven to 380.
Spray a cookie sheet.
Mix dry. Mix wet.
Combine.
Bake for 5-6 minutes.
Eat. Smile. Repeat.

Less than 1 gram of natural sugar per cookie
(from the dates)!

Makes 30 cookies in the most perfect, petite size.

*If you have a nut allergy, replace the almond milk with a nut free, non-dairy  alternative milk, (hemp/flax/soy).
