A couple nights ago I was at my parents house and it was really late, I didn't want to look for a parking spot at my place downtown and my Mom was coaxing me into spending the night. I knew she was right, I should stay, I was exhausted and I don't like driving at night. The moment I announced that I was staying, I zombie walked to the bathroom to brush my teeth and take off my makeup.
As I reentered the room, I stopped...Mom was ripping off the couch pillows and tucking the newly washed sheet under the cushions. I watched her make the best looking couch bed I'd ever seen and than make sure the fireplace was on, so I wouldn't get cold...she's a God.
It is my Mom's 'love language.' She is NON-STOP. A couple hours earlier my brother walked into the house and without hesitation she bee-lined for the fridge, pulled out the salmon, quinoa and egg and started pan-frying her delicious, homemade Salmon Patties. As she was already flipping the patty, "Trev, are you hungry? He nodded yes. "Want me to make you a salmon patty?" His eyes lit up and that was enough. A few minutes (most likely seconds) later a toasted bun was being placed onto a plate as avocado slices lined the bun and the salmon patty was delicately tucked in between the two slices of Dave's Killer Bread. The sandwich was a thing of glory.
I marvel at my Mom. She does it all. But is exhausted! And she doesn't ask for help, so I try to pick up here and there as much as I can when I'm home.
I get it. She is a woman, mother, friend, wife, sister, life coach and inspirational quote giver that I can only hope to be somewhat like when I have my own family.
Just so you know Mom, it's okay to ask for help. :)
Either way, you are truly a real life SUPERWOMAN!
