No Such Thing as Failing!

As Oprah says, "Every experience and encounter, positive and negative, has the potential to contribute to your personal development...how there's no such thing as failure- just someone or something pointing you in a new direction."

I had an audition today and came away with more than usual.  I watched these professionally trained singers belt out these incredible songs for the casting director, as I stood there jaw dropped to the ground.  How freakin' unprepared could I be?  I have put myself in so many of these situations and the only thing I can do is laugh.  I learn so much every time and it's time I start listening to what I learn.

This time I learned:

1. These people take voice lessions, (I ad-lib).
2.  They love singing so much that they have learned to read music, ( I pick up tunes by listening, not reading).
3.  They practice the songs they audition with, (I didn't know there were specific songs, I just chose an r n' b and the audition was for cabaret singers)...
4.  The door has been slammed in their face and they are back for more, (Yes!  I have experience in this!)
5.  They believe in themselves, (I'm getting there).

I have conquered #4 and am on a quest to conquer 1, 2, 3, & 5.  There are so many things I want to do and I always feel like I'm running out of time!  That's when I remember to take a deep breath and remind myself that there's always tomorrow...hopefully! :)

Stop daydreaming and start doing!

  1. I am a big believer in everything happens for a reason - especially the "failures"! But i know what you mean about feeling like you're "running out of time". I'm 20 and i still feel like that all the time (I have issues). But i'm starting to figure out that everything you want to do in life will come around on it's own time - you can't force it. It will happen when it's meant to happen and I totally know that everything will play out for you - even if it's not the way that you pictured it to (i know this because i have psychic instincts from my chinese grandma ;) hehe, but seriously...)

    I BELIEVE IN YOU J!!!

This is hilarious! Your chinese grandma would be proud. Like I told you earlier, I will be on your team when you decide to run for president.

  4. Mama!

Maybe I get myself into these situations so I can call you right after and we can say..."dear God."

My determination comes from a little place I like to call, Mom's motivation.

    I love you Mama!
